Indian Ocean seaweed. Local value. Global impact.

Born in Madagascar, Seaweed & Beyond bridges ocean resources with life on land — connecting ecosystems, communities, and climate solutions. From the Indian Ocean, we transform sustainably grown or harvested tropical seaweed into natural biostimulants and biofertilizers that improve crop performance, restore soil health, and help farmers adapt to a changing climate. Working alongside coastal communities, we create sustainable income opportunities, strengthen food security, and foster ecosystem regeneration. Anchored in science and field results, we have conducted over 35 agronomic trials with more than 20 partners, validating our solutions across diverse crops, climates, and agroecological zones, while ensuring high quality standards. Seaweed & Beyond cultivates a future where tropical seaweed powers regenerative and climate-smart agriculture.

A concrete commitment to the future

Seaweed & Beyond creates impact across three interconnected dimensions: agronomic, social, and environmental.

Agronomic Impact

Healthier soils, stronger, more resilient crops. Our biostimulants and biofertilizers — rich in natural bioactive compounds — stimulate rooting, improve nutrient uptake, support photosynthesis, flowering and fruit set, increase stress tolerance, and regenerate soils. Multisite trials across Madagascar (rice, maize, pepper, lychee, young trees, vegetables, etc.) show consistent gains in vigor, yield and hydric stress resilience.

Social Impact

Our solutions are designed with communities, not just for them. Seaweed sourcing and processing create sustainable income opportunities for coastal communities — especially for women, who play a central role in seaweed farming and handling. By transforming seaweed locally, we help strengthen technical skills in both cultivation and processing, supporting inclusive, locally anchored value chains. Our agricultural products empower pioneer farmers, cooperatives, and enterprises to develop climate smart food systems that improve productivity and reduce vulnerability. Across Madagascar, our clients serve as a real world feedback loop, ensuring our solutions remain effective, accessible, and impactful for diverse farming communities.

Social Impact

Environmental Impact

Seaweed cultivation and processing reduce pressure on fragile coastal and marine ecosystems by offering sustainable alternatives to harmful activities like overfishing or charcoal production. As a renewable marine biomass, seaweed grows without using arable land, freshwater, nor synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. By transforming this low impact resource into natural agricultural inputs rich in bioactive compounds, we promote a circular, ocean to earth model that lowers dependence on chemical fertilizers, limits nutrient runoff and water pollution, and supports long term soil health and biodiversity. Our work strengthens both terrestrial and marine ecosystems — demonstrating that regenerative agriculture can begin offshore and flourish on land.

Sustainability

Sustainability

Sustainability shapes every decision we make. We work with fresh, traceable tropical seaweed cultivated or harvested in partnership with coastal communities, ensuring full respect for marine ecosystems. Using green extraction methods, we create natural seaweed biostimulants and biofertilizers that help farmers improve yields, regenerate soil health, and reduce reliance on chemical inputs. By transforming a renewable marine resource into solutions for climate smart agriculture, we promote circular 'ocean to earth' models that restore ecosystems and support long term resilience.

Innovation

Innovation

We believe the future of agriculture lies in nature based innovation grounded in science. At the intersection of biotechnology and agronomy, we work with research centers and farmer networks across Madagascar and beyond to validate our products under real world conditions. The natural bioactive compounds found in seaweed — polysaccharides, phytohormones, amino acids, and minerals — enhance root development, nutrient uptake, stress tolerance, and overall crop vigor. Through multisite agronomic trials, we continuously refine our formulations to ensure they remain farmer ready, effective, and reliable across diverse climates and cropping systems.

Local Roots

Local Roots

Our work is grounded in Madagascar's people, landscapes, and potential. We offer a locally made, affordable alternative to imported chemical inputs, keeping more value within local economies and strengthening inclusive, seaweed based value chains. By partnering with village associations, producer groups, and responsible local enterprises such as Ocean Farmers and Nosy Boraha Seaweed, we create sustainable jobs, generate reliable income for Malagasy families, and support long term economic resilience. For us, local development is the foundation of global impact.

The faces behind Seaweed & Beyond

Behind every advancement at Seaweed & Beyond Madagascar stand women and men driven by passion, expertise, strong ethical values, and a shared commitment to building a healthier, more equitable planet. Our team spans agronomy, seaweed farming, environmental sciences, biotechnology, community engagement, and logistics — working hand in hand with researchers, private companies, village associations, community organizations, and pioneering farmers. Our strength lies in this diversity: by combining scientific rigor with traditional know how, we develop and scale sustainable, climate resilient agricultural solutions grounded in real field needs. Local solutions, powered by communities, for global impact.
